This course provides opportunities for extensive practical skills to be developed or enhanced, supported by talented teaching staff. The Diploma program is predominantly delivered at the SuniTAFE farm. The well-equipped training farm offers the student unique experiences covering a broad range of horticultural practices, supported by farm management and staff.

This qualification reflects the role of cooks who use a wide range of well-developed cookery skills and sound knowledge of kitchen operations to prepare food and menu items. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities. Completion of this qualification contributes to recognition as a trade cook.

To participate in practical classes the student must provide and wear kitchen approved footwear, chef specific pants, white chefs jacket, white bib apron and white skull cap. A basic knife kit will also be required for practical sessions. Suggested knife kits and uniforms will be provided on enrolment.

This qualification reflects the role of allied health assistants who provide therapeutic and program related support to persons, in the health, aged care, disability and any other settings where Allied Health Professionals provide services. Allied Health Assistants work under the delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals and assist in identifying circumstances and risks and report issues. This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.

A licence to perform high risk work is required if you work with high risk equipment or plant. Most forklift use is categorised as “high risk”. The forklift licence is valid in every Australian state and territory, enabling you to operate high risk equipment under consistent standards everywhere in Australia.

Students need to be over 18, have a good command of the English language, and must supply their own work clothes including boots. Photo ID is also required. Please note $60 is to be paid to Worksafe to collect the licence on completion paid via Australia Post. 2 Passport pictures are required to complete the application, these can be done at Australia Post. Graduating students will be WorkSafe compliant, once they receive their licence. This qualification is valid in Australia.
