This course applies to individuals working in a work health and safety (WHS) role who provide a broad range of technical knowledge and skills, and have some limited responsibility for the output of others. The qualification applies to those working as supervisors, WHS personnel, and workers in other WHS-related roles who manage risks effectively, apply relevant WHS laws, and contribute to WHS within the workplace in known or changing contexts with established parameters.

This course specifically targets individuals such as production operators, working in metalliferous processing facilities or coal preparation and treatment plants, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

The Advanced Diploma of Extractive Industries Management (RII60220) reflects the role of mine managers in an open cut coal or metalliferous mine or a quarry.

The MINRES Advanced Diploma of Surface Coal Mining Management (RII60720) has been designed using a SMART Training Plan specifically to assist Site Senior Executives in coal mines to fulfil their Recognised Standard 22 (RS22) requirements.

Target Audience

This qualification reflects the role of individuals, including mine managers or mining engineering managers, who perform complex, non-routine tasks involving strategic and planning activities for open cut coal mines. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining operational systems and plans, including safety and health, environmental and management systems, providing leadership and mentoring to others, and understanding and managing legislative and operational requirements for mine sites.

The training plan has been aligned to minimum industry requirements and additionally compliments the Diploma of Surface Operations Management. The Double Diploma is contextualised to both coal and metalliferous operations and meets Recognised Standard 22 (RS22) Requirements.

This qualification reflects the role of metal or coal processing facility managers who perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills and implement mine management plans.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support shot firing operations in civil construction, coal mining (open cut), metalliferous mining (open cut), drilling and extractive sectors. It includes checking blast holes, handling explosives and accessories and priming, loading, stemming and tying explosives.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take some responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide support at the blast site for underground shotfiring operations working in site-based roles in the coal mining and metalliferous mining sectors.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to load and mix explosives using mobile processing units at blast holes. It applies for both above ground and underground mobile processing units.

This unit applies to those working in site-based roles on mine sites and quarries in the coal mining, metalliferous mining, drilling, extractive, and civil infrastructure environments.
