Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

A Chief Technology Officer manages the overall use of technology for a company or organisation. You might oversee technology development and ensure current resources are meeting the company’s needs. Chief Technology Officers may also plan for future needs and create technology policies for issues such as cyber security and data management.

Chief Technology Officers should have strong leadership skills and an excellent knowledge of technological issues. It’s important you can think long-term and have good project management skills. Chief Technology Officers should be good communicators and be able liaise with people from a range of backgrounds.
