Purchasing Officer

Purchasing Officers source raw materials, inventory, and other supplies while striving for the best prices and highest quality materials according to the budget. They negotiate contracts with suppliers, prepare purchase orders, receive goods, and check the quality and accuracy of orders.

As a Purchasing Officer you could be talking to a new supplier on the phone to discuss quantity discounts, preparing a purchase order and emailing to a supplier, checking off an order that has just been received in the warehouse, contacting a supplier to report some damaged stock, preparing a month-end report to submit to the accounting department, or meeting with the logistics manager to discuss an upgrade of the electronic purchasing system.
