Designed for people beginning their career in Early Childhood, CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will provide you with the foundational skills and knowledge required to support children in a variety of early childhood education environments, and a learning pathway to pursue Diploma level qualifications in the sector.

CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services provides the knowledge and foundational skills to support individuals through person centred services in community-based organisations. It will also provide you with the skills to implement specific community-based programs. Work will be carried out under the direction of others with both direct and indirect supervision. During this course you will learn how to work with a diverse range of people, assess and respond to client’s needs, and develop and maintain a network of contacts and partnerships with community-based service providers.

CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is designed for those seeking a rewarding career in aged and disability care services for clients living in residential care or in their homes in the community. This course will teach you the skills to fulfil the critical functions of personal carers and effectively support older people and those living with a disability in a wide range of community and social based activities and settings.

Students may choose to focus on an area of specialisation that provides skills and knowledge to effectively provide person-centred individualised support to older people and those with a disability to ensure they have fulfilling lives in which they can reach their potential. You will learn how to contribute as a team member in a home and community care environment or residential care setting and meet individualised and personal support needs. You will gain a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and effectively support older people in a wide range of personal care, community and social based activities and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments.

This course will suit you if you have a passion for supporting older people, ensuring they have fulfilling and rewarding lives.

Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

BSB80320 Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership prepares individuals to apply advanced knowledge and skills in a range of strategic leadership and management roles.

Individuals at this level make high level autonomous decisions and use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions in varied contexts.

They have full responsibility and accountability for personal outputs and for the work or function of others.

Learn how to use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. Develop communication skills to demonstrate your understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

Certificate IV in Youth Work prepares workers to develop and facilitate programs for young people and provides the skills, knowledge and frameworks for effectively supporting young people in a range of community-based programs and settings. On completion you will be able to effectively support young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, wellbeing, developmental and protection needs of young people.

They are largely self-directed with autonomous decision making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.

Certificate IV in Community Services is designed for those who are passionate about working to support others in the communities in which they live. Building on your industry experience, this course will take you from the foundations of community services, through to more advanced practices and leadership skills. You will learn how to design and deliver person-centred services across a range of services including mental health, disability and child and youth services and provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual persons, groups and communities.

This course is particularly suited to those currently working in the Community Services sector who want to gain the advanced skills to further their professional and career development. At this level, workers may be autonomous with limited responsibility within established parameters and may supervise others. Work may take place in a range of community service, case work or case management contexts.

CHC50421 Diploma of Youth Work is the qualification that builds on the skills and knowledge of those who already hold the entry level qualification CHC40421 Certificate IV in Youth Work.

The Diploma qualification reflects the role of people who work in youth work and operate under a broad supervision framework. They work within clearly defined organisational guidelines, with responsibility for the development and the outcomes of programs and services for young people that are managed and designed to meet the social, behavioural, health, wellbeing, developmental and protection needs of young people. Work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and other agencies

This course is particularly suited to those who want to develop their knowledge and skills to pursue supervisory and management level positions in youth work.

CHC50321 Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention develops the skills needed to improve the living and emotional circumstances of children and young people at risk and their families. This qualification reflects the role of workers in out-of-home care facilities and settings related to child protection and family support work. It includes all aspects of case management, communication, developing a professional practice and working with people who have mental health issues.

Work will be performed under limited supervision or within a team, and workers are responsible for planning and prioritising their own work program to achieve targets. This qualification is for people who are wanting to pursue supervisory and management level positions, and the course content reflects the role of people with responsibility for the development and outcomes of programs and services.

They may, depending on the focus of their role, supervise other workers and carry out activities related to improvement of personal living and emotional circumstances of a child or young person at risk. They may exercise legal authorities and delegated decision making on relevant statutory matters.

ACM30122 Certificate III in Animal Care Services provides the skills and knowledge to work in a broad range of roles in animal care facilities and services, including boarding/day care, breeding, shelters, pet grooming, pet sitting and other animal businesses. This is the ideal foundation course for people looking to move into specialised streams in the animal care industry and is also a natural progression for those who have already completed a Certificate II qualification in a related field.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.

Workers promote a person-centred approach, and work according to, and may contribute to, an individualised plan. This course is suited to those looking to gain the advanced skills necessary to apply for more senior roles in the disability sector. It prepares individuals to work without direct supervision and to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, coordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

This qualification is for very experienced community services sector workers and cannot be issued unless you have 100 hours of work or work experience at the appropriate level in a relevant community services setting. Please refer to the brochure for more details.

CHCSS00130 Individual Support – Disability Skill Set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services industry who wish to develop the skills necessary to support people with a disability.

This Skill Set reflects the skill requirements for providing person-centred support to people with disability in various settings.

Gain the skills and knowledge to assist with the ongoing skill development of a person with a disability. Learn how to assist with supporting people with a disability in community participation and social inclusion using a person-centred approach. Develop skills to facilitate the empowerment of people with a disability and implement behaviour support strategies outlined in individualised behaviour support plans.

CHCSS00129 Individual Support – Ageing Skill Set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services industry who wish to develop the skills necessary to provide person-centred support to older people.

You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to respond to the goals and aspirations of older people and provide support services in a manner that focuses on improving health outcomes and quality of life using a person-centred approach.

You will learn how to determine and respond to an individual’s physical personal support needs and to support activities of daily living.

The Lead and Mentor Skill Set is ideal for workers with existing experience or qualifications in community services or health sector roles who are seeking to broaden their skills in leading, mentoring, coordinating, supporting and coaching in the community sector.

You will learn how to effectively lead and mentor work teams and gain the skills required to develop, deliver and evaluate mentoring programs for new staff. You will gain skills in leading work teams and learn how to effectively monitor team performance. You will learn the art of self-reflection and gain understanding of the importance of continuous professional development.

CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services industry who wish to develop the skills necessary to support people to self-administer medication.

You will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and develop skills that will allow you to recognise and promote methods for maintaining healthy bodily functions.

You will learn how to prepare for and provide medication assistance, complete medication documentation, and support clients to self-administer medication. You will be able to interpret and understand information that includes references to clients anatomy and physiology.
