Thousands of free and low cost training courses are available to residents of the Northern Territory under JobTrainer NT — a joint investment by the Australian government and the NT state government.
Job seekers, new workers, and school leavers are able to complete more than one course, while existing apprentices and trainees will have their wages subsidised so they can finish their trade qualification.
What courses are being funded in the Northern Territory?
Courses approved under JobTrainer Northern Territory range from full qualifications (Certificate I -- Advanced Diploma), as well as short courses and skills sets that deliver a mandatory licence or work permit.
Short courses and full qualifications will be available in high demand industries and employment areas including health care, community service, manufacturing, retail and wholesale trade, transport, postal and warehousing.
How much will the courses cost?
JobTrainer NT will offer approximately 3,200 new training opportunities either free or at very low cost.
Who is eligible for JobTrainer?
To qualify for a free or subsidised course under NT JobTrainer you must be a resident of Northern Territory, aged 17-24 years of age or currently out of work (this includes new job seekers and those who have lost their job) or receiving an income support payment (eg, JobSeeker, Austudy, Youth Allowance).
