The RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction is a nationally recognised qualification for anyone wanting to get started in road, bridge, or tunnel construction. The course introduces you to a civil construction jobsite, teaching you the safety and environmental protocols expected of all civil construction workers. You’ll learn to read plans and jobs specs, use a range of hand and power tools, and perform accurate measurements and calculations. The qualification then allows you to specialise in any of nine areas: bituminous surfacing, bridge construction, pipe laying, road construction, road marking, tunnel construction, timber bridges, traffic management, and general operational work. During your studies you will be learning how to respond to emergency situations and perform life saving resuscitation procedures, while employing specialised equipment and the ACR guidelines. The course covers: delivering oxygen therapy using a pulse oximeter, performing single and two-rescuer CPR, monitoring the condition of casualty, managing life-threatening bleeding, communicating with emergency services, documenting and reviewing incidents. The HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting is a nationally recognised short course for teachers and child care workers who need skills in CPR and first aid. This course follows the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). The course covers: recognising and assessing emergency situations including asthma and anaphylactic reactions, ensuring the safety patients and bystanders (as well as yourself), performing CPR and essential first aid, liaising with emergency services, reporting incident details to parents and caregivers, completing written incident reports. This qualification reflects the role of employees such as production operators in a metalliferous processing facility or a coal preparation and treatment plant, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

These units of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to confine small emergencies in a facility and it applies to occupants who are required to have first attack firefighting skills.

It includes preparing for emergency situations, identifying and assessing an emergency, safely confining emergencies, using initial response equipment and reporting on the facility's emergency response.
