The Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure program is a general qualification for personnel engaged in basic operations within the rail infrastructure environment who undertake a range of tasks involving known routines and procedures.
This program will provide students with the skills to fill roles such as a track worker, track maintainer or track installer. This program is for individuals working in the danger zone on or about the track to implement track maintenance; conduct mandatory systematic inspections; examination; condition monitoring and functional checks on the rail infrastructure; and to take appropriate action to ensure rail infrastructure is in a safe operational condition. This can include recording and reporting of defective infrastructure to maintain a valid defect recording system.

Accessing the Rail Corridor Induction course is a mandatory requirement for anyone performing work in the Transport for NSW rail corridor (including between Sydney, Nowra, Lithgow and Broadmeadow) and is recognised by UGL Regional Links (UGLRL).

This training initiative has been designed for individuals with no prior rail industry experience to gain essential knowledge and skills in rail operations. Successfully completing this course will equip you with the skills and understanding to pursue a career in rail operations by providing foundational training that can count towards the skill sets required for a multitude of different rail operations careers, such as Train Driving, Terminal Operator, Yard Coordinator and Station Officer.
