Learn moreThe industry demand for Myotherapists arose from the need for remedial massage therapists to work with clients presenting with more complex conditions than they were exposed to in their training.
Myotherapy training is based on the rehabilitation of the body’s soft tissue functionality, focusing on the main symptoms that will affect it, such as pain and lack of movement.
Myotherapists are trained in the assessment, treatment, and management of myofascial and joint pain and dysfunction, as well as pain derived from the nervous system. They can utilise a broad skill-set in assessment and treatment modalities including corrective exercise plans.
Myotherapy will give you additional treatment options such as cupping, dry needling, mobilisation techniques, corrective exercise plans and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). By having Myotherapy training, the therapist can treat more complex conditions, and allow them to assist a broader range of clients. The therapist’s investment of time and money to advance their knowledge and skill demonstrates to clients their commitment to the industry and their clients – and justifies the increased treatment prices over that of a Remedial Therapist. This outcome is both beneficial for a Myotherapist operating their own small business, and may also improve the employability for therapists working in professional practice.
