The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is a nationally recognised qualification for those that are seeking employment in the Early Childhood industry. Graduates would be responsible for supporting the implementation of an approved learning framework, and supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Graduates work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard and may work under direct supervision or autonomously depending on the setting.

Graduates would be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in their respective services and work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care service National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Graduates may also have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

They can be employed within residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health. By the completion of this qualification, graduates will be responsible for their own outputs under direct or indirect supervision within organisational guidelines.

Graduates would be responsible in following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to individuals and will be required to use discretion and judgement in relation to their role. By the completion of this qualification, graduates will have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, along with some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices that are required to provide person-centred support.

The unit applies to all workers or volunteers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This unit of competency must be updated every 3 years and the CPR component must be updated every 12 months to remain current.
