You’ll find our campuses in the Lake Macquarie town of Cooranbong, halfway between Newcastle and the Central Coast, and at Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga on the North Shore of Sydney.

Graduates of the MTch (Prim) are qualified to teach in Christian, independent and state school systems both in Australia and overseas.
This course is offered in a regular program (semester-only) or a fast-tracked program (1.3 years). The fast-tracked program includes intensive study periods allowing students to complete course requirements in a significantly shorter timeframe. Students are able to opt-in as professional or personal circumstances allow. Intensive study periods are offered entirely online.

Learn moreThe Master of Education (MEd) builds a student’s capacity for Christ-centred practice with critically informed knowledge and work integrated learning. The course aims to inspire and empower Christian teachers to serve God with excellence in education, in the context of spirituality, wellbeing, integrity and service.
All units in the MEd are offered online with an annual on campus component (Winter School) held on the Lake Macquarie campus for one week (5 days) during July. Attendance at Winter school is strongly recommended. Online attendance is available where circumstances make it difficult to attend in person.
MEd units are recognised as accredited Professional Development with all Australian State Accreditation Authorities, contributing 50 hours each of elective professional development to the maintenance period in which they are completed.
Learn moreThe Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is an internationally-recognised degree that enables candidates to apply a substantial body of knowledge to research or to investigate and develop new knowledge in one or more fields of investigation, scholarship or professional practice.
Delivered within a Christian education framework, the PhD also enables candidates to develop an understanding of ethical scholarship principles that are conducive to conducting research in Christian organisations.
PhD candidates receive support by meeting regularly with their supervisors (online and on-campus) and attending research training sessions. The candidate and appointed supervisors negotiate the necessary workload commitments required by the candidate to complete the degree requirements within the stated timeframes.
On average, a full-time study load would require 28-40 hours of study per week, whereas a part-time study load would require 14-20 hours of study per week.
In the final semester, the candidate submits a thesis of 80,000-100,000 words (or equivalent exegesis or publications).

In this course students can choose to develop nursing specialist qualifications in either Clinical Nursing, Clinical Teaching or Leadership and Management.
The ability to function both autonomously and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is an essential element of this course.

There is an increasing demand for Christian teachers to be employed in all school sectors across Australia. Avondale graduates are highly valued for being reflective, creative, and confident in the classroom.
The degree qualifies and prepares graduates to teach from Kindergarten to Year 6, and to be responsible ethical leaders to children. BA/BTch (Primary) is a highly practical course with hands-on classroom experience from the second year of full-time study. Students will engage in four Professional Experience Placements. These are undertaken at various schools to enable the application of theory in a practical setting. Students may also be able to undertake an overseas Professional Experience Placement.

Learn moreThe Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) (Birth – 5 years) is designed to equip students with the necessary skills needed to teach in Christian, private, state and corporate early childhood education and care services in both Australia and overseas.
Avondale University graduates are reflective, creative, and confident classroom teachers who have also acquired service leadership knowledge and skills.
The degree qualifies and prepares graduates to teach children from birth to five years of age and to be responsible ethical leaders to children, families and staff. The BEd (EC) (Birth – 5 years) is a highly practical degree with hands-on classroom experience throughout the course. Students will engage in seven professional experience placements. These are undertaken in various types of early childhood settings to enable the application of theory in a practical setting.
The degree is offered on campus and online making it even easier for students to fit study around your work and personal life.
Graduates of this course are not eligible for primary teacher registration.

Avondale's BSc/BTch is a highly practical degree that is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills for a career in secondary science and mathematics teaching.
This course is designed to be specific for teaching areas and electives from within the Science related teaching fields.
At Avondale you are given the opportunity to complete one of your professional teaching experiences in a developing country. In the past this has taken teams of Avondale students to Cambodia, India, Nepal and The Kingdom of Tonga.
You can graduate with the ability to teach in two Science related teaching areas by completing a double major or major and minor selected from the above list.
