The course offers a balanced approach to theoretical learning and practical experience. You will have 24/7 access to the learning management system, allowing you to study the theoretical aspects at your own pace, anytime and anywhere.
Simulated practicals are one of the key components of the course, giving you the opportunities to practice communication and problem-solving with actors in various mental health scenarios. This hands-on experience prepares you for a 160-hour work placement, providing invaluable real-world exposure and boosting your confidence to enter the workforce successfully.
Throughout your journey, you’ll receive ongoing support from our academic assistance team, which includes a panel of expert trainers, IT support, and student support services.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate of education; or,
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that was delivered as a part of the AQF (Australian Qualification Framework), that can be verified by the issuing organisation or the USI (unique student identifier) transcript or,
- The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy. TrainSmart Australia must also reasonably believe that the student displays that competence.
If you are unable to provide either of these, you will need to complete an Online Reading, Writing and Numeracy test to gain entry into our course.
