An Environmental Health Officer ensures legislation relating to environmental health issues is being adhered to. You might focus on an area such as food hygiene, water quality or waste disposal or you might enforce policies across a range of areas. Environmental Health Officers conduct inspections and provide information and advice to businesses and workplaces.

Environmental Health Officers should have good leadership skills and be able to communicate with people from a range of backgrounds. It’s important you can work as part of a team and have a strong understanding of environmental health issues. Environmental Health Officers must have good observational skills and excellent problem solving abilities.
