About SDS Training and Security

This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.

This skill set describes the skills and knowledge required to securely collect, transfer and deliver cash and valuables whilst in transit.

A cash transit security officer carries cash, bullion, jewelry or valuables. Officers who carry a weapon while working must also apply to the Queensland Police Service for the appropriate weapons license.

This course is a hand on a course that teaches the safe handling and cartage of weapons.

This course will create the opportunity for employment in specialist areas of the security industry that will require the carriage of weapons. You will gain critical skills and knowledge required in developing and carrying out armed security escorts and cash in transit operational duties, self-defence and the defence of others.

This advanced first aid course covers a comprehensive range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide an advanced first aid response to a casualty. It covers a variety of complex emergency events with an advanced first aid response.

Advanced First Aid equips the participant for emergencies in both basic and a high-risk environment and includes the effective use of one and two person CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This program is organised in a progressive manner that allows the participant to become proficient with the basic skills before progressing onto more complex ones.

This course provides participants with the skills for assessing a risk situation, responding to and manage a risk situation using batons and handcuffs as well as an in depth understanding of the legalities pertaining to the use of force. Weapon retention, weapon disarming, maintenance, storage and transport of restricted items is also covered.

The course is delivered through practical training, scenarios, role plays and group discussions. The instructors are industry professionals with extensive experience in the use of defensive weapons. This program is conducted through practical training, scenarios, role plays and group discussions.
