Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This qualification reflects the role of cooks who use a wide range of well-developed cookery skills and sound knowledge of kitchen operations to prepare food and menu items. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

About Joan Lawman College
Joan Lawman College is a CRICOS Registered Training Organisation (RTO), approved and regulated by the Australian Quality and Skills Authority (ASQA). Based in Melbourne’s CBD, we offer nationally accredited and recognised English language, business, cooking and hospitality courses to international students studying in Australia.
Our VET courses are designed to develop the essential knowledge and practical skills relevant to vocational outcomes. Our graduates are equipped to enter the world of work and competently address current industry requirements or access further study opportunities. Our ELICOS courses develop student’s English language skills so they can confidently communicate in English and access further study or job opportunities.
We draw on our established relationships with industry and other stakeholders to ensure our courses are appropriate for addressing student needs and consistently address their expectations. Courses are designed by highly qualified staff with extensive industry and training experience to achieve teaching and learning excellence, flexibility and personal satisfaction.
Quality is maintained in compliance with the VET Quality & ESOS Frameworks and through our Continuous improvement system. We maintain a high level of quality education by constantly seeking to improve our training and assessment strategies, resources, materials and environment.

All our trainers have relevant industry knowledge and experience and are professional, friendly, supportive and dynamic individuals! We strive to make students feel as comfortable as possible whilst studying at JLC, so we keep our class sizes small. This helps ensure adequate support is provided and a student centred learning environment is maintained.
