Throughout this highly practical qualification, students will advance in their knowledge of food preparation, safety practices and cookery skills, which are required to be competent as a qualified cook. They will build their experience through hands-on training in preparing a wide variety of dishes including appetisers, salads, soups, desserts, pastries and breads. They will also learn how to prepare meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable, fruit, egg and farinaceous dishes.
In addition, students will develop a sound knowledge of kitchen operations and management required to work effectively within the commercial cookery industry, including how to plan and cost basic menus, maintain perishable items, coach others in cookery related job skills and use hygienic practices.
Students will learn under the guidance of the very best qualified and professional chefs.
This nationally accredited qualification provides the foundations required to upskill and pursue further course studies in the hospitality industry, or continue in the workforce as a qualified cook.
