Preference placements are offered to those who have previously studied with The Animal Academy, with credits being automatically applied. Work placements will continue to offer you tailored mentoring by your assessors at select veterinary practices and immersion from day one of your training will give you the skills to confidently work as a veterinary nurse after completion.
Learn moreThe Certificate III in Animal Care Services is designed as a general industry qualification to prepare students to embark on a career as an animal carer. The Animal Academy focuses learning around the requirements of a kennel hand in animal care facilities or veterinary nurse assistant in a veterinary practice. As a student with The Animal Academy, you will be placed into specific handpicked animal care facilities and Veterinary practices*, to build your animal handling skills, gain a sound knowledge of caring for animals and carry out routine work activities within clearly defined guidelines and supervision within the facilities. Special focus is placed on maintaining infection control and health and safety within the work place, as well as basic care of animals, behaviour, welfare and enrichment. This is the small animal elective stream and focuses on various domestic small animals or exotics/wildlife.

The Certificate II in Animal Care is a general qualification for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries, and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities.

Working with a specific species or across a range of species, this qualification provides options for those working in animal rehoming/adoption, rehabilitation roles, exhibited animal facilities or who specialise in conditioning or training different species.
