Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced)

From mining to music, accounting is vital to every organisation in every industry. It’s an essential part of an organisation’s decision-making, planning, and even performance evaluation. In this two-year advanced Master program, you’ll learn about accounting processes and business finance. You’ll work on project teams with your peers to put accounting theory into practice with our industry partners, gaining real-world experience.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Admission Requirements

Recognized Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent training, or professional training. Students who have completed a degree with an accounting major from an Australian university will not be considered for admission.

English Requirements

You must meet a minimum standard in English to study at Murdoch, which for most courses can be demonstrated by providing evidence that you have completed Year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level if you are a domestic student, or through either English proficiency tests, university preparation courses, English language courses, previous tertiary study or vocational education.

  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT): 140 Written English
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.0 Overall
  • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 169 Overall
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): 50 Overall
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language – IBT (TOEFL IBT): 73 Overall

University Preparation Courses

University Foundation or Preparation Programs (from English-speaking countries)*:

  • Successful completion of an 8-12 month foundation program leading to a Bachelor degree

English Language Courses

All Australian Universities

  • English Academic Program / English Language Bridging courses: Successful completion of an academic English language bridging course of a minimum of 10 teaching weeks full-time duration or more, which satisfies the English Language entry requirements into degree level courses for that Australian University

Previous Tertiary Study

Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) or equivalent:

  • Successful completion of at least two university units at AQF level 7 degree or above

Vocational Education

  • Certificate I - Certificate IV (AQF Level 1 - AQF Level 4 or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study) - South Metropolitan TAFE (AQF Level 4)
  • Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English for Further Study - South Metropolitan TAFE (AQF Level 4)
  • Certificate IV in Business - Phoenix Academy (AQF Level 4)
  • Diploma, Associate Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Associate Degree* (AQF Level 5 - AQF Level 6 or equivalent)
  • Overseas Qualifications assessed as comparable to the educational level of an AQF Level 5 and above: AQF Level 5 - AQF Level 6 or equivalent
