Nationally Recognised Higher EducationOccupational hygienists apply scientific knowledge and techniques to the measurement and control of hazards that can harm the health and wellbeing of workers and others in the work environment.
Designed for science, engineering and health science graduates, this specialist program will build on your scientific background, focusing on the practical skills and knowledge you will need to manage the health impacts of work environments.
Learn about the consequences of exposure, how to quantitatively measure them, and what controls are required to reduce risk. Explore a broad range of health hazards, including airborne dusts, gases and vapours; physical hazards such as noise, vibration and radiation; biological hazards such as viruses and bacteria; ergonomic hazards and emerging risks such as nanotechnology.
In your 1.5 years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) study, you'll complete 11 courses, including an industry-based occupational hygiene research project to extend your independence as a researcher and help refine your skills in this discipline area.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
A bachelor's degree in science, engineering or health sciences, with two or more first-year, university-level science courses that cover human anatomy, human physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and/or physics.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
