The Master of Arts TESOL (Online) prepares students for a global career in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This program crosses all international borders, through interactive educational technology employed for learning and teaching. This program equips the graduates with extensive knowledge and skills necessary for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).

The program can benefit any educator working in culturally and linguistically diverse contexts. The Master of Arts in TESOL (Online) comprises 12 subjects covering essential areas of TESOL. The program prepares a modern language teaching expert who understands student needs, can teach a language, develop new programs, has a strong outlook on global policy and the ability to understand future directions in education.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Successful completion of a recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) in the fields of Society and Culture, Education, Business and Management;

OR successful completion of recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) in any field not listed above and for this option must meet additional requirements:

  • a personal statement (approximately 500 words) explaining why you want to study the program and evidence of knowledge in the field of Applied Linguistics and TESOL.
  • a CV including details of paid or voluntary work, or other experiences (e.g. special interest groups) relevant to the program.

You will need to provide an English proficiency test for admission:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Overall score 6.5 with no sub score less than 6.0
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic Overall score 58 with no Communicative Scores below 50
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Overall score 79 (no scores below 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking, and 16 in Reading and Listening)
