Ten years later, it was time to once again take the educational lead by introducing our redesigned MD course, offering unprecedented levels of flexibility to those beginning their medical career.

Designed for students who have completed their undergraduate studies and are committed to professional training, the Melbourne MD supports both the personal and professional development of each individual. The redesigned course aims to produce high quality medical professionals who can thrive in complex environments and be the leaders of change.

It delivers advanced clinical and academic training to ensure students are prepared for the challenges of internship and an increasingly diverse medical career. With an emphasis on choice and customisation, the Melbourne MD allows students to build their own future.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

MD Standard Pathway – Domestic & International

In order to be considered for entry via the standard pathway, applicants:

  • Must have completed:
    • An undergraduate degree in any discipline, with studies to have been completed within 10 years of 1 January in the year in which the applicant intends to commence the Doctor of Medicine; or
    • For applicants whose most recently completed undergraduate degree was completed 10 or more years before 1 January of the year in which the applicant intends to commence the Doctor of Medicine, a Graduate Diploma, Master or PhD degree or equivalent completed within 10 years before 1 January of the year in which the applicant intends to commence the Doctor of Medicine; and;
  • Must have completed:
    • the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT); or
    • for international students who are located overseas only, either the GAMSAT or the North American Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT); and
  • Perform satisfactorily at a Multi-Mini Interview

English Language Criteria

The minimum English language requirements for this course are Band 7.
