Certificate IV in School Based Education Support
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Are you passionate about helping students succeed in their education? Our comprehensive qualification is designed for individuals who want to assist teachers & educators and support student learning in a variety of classroom settings.
As an education support worker, you will have the opportunity to facilitate learning for a range of instructional groupings, including those students in need of additional support.
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of at least 100 hours of work in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.
This course is currently available as part of the Free TAFE scheme but is subject to eligibility requirements and may change in the future.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
GOTAFE entry requirements
Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
Students must be employed in a school education setting for a min of 2 days per week (min. 6 hours per day).
Placement requirements:
Students will be required to hold a valid working with children check. (Volunteer)
Students will be required to provide a Police Check with no disclosable outcomes (within 6 months)
Resources required:
GOTAFE polo shirt is required to be worn during placement (available for purchase at the Induction)
