Certificate II in Security Operations
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licencing outcomes: Security officer – unarmed guard and Security officer – crowd controller.
Security officers may work alone or work in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgement to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work and learning.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- You need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident or, the holder of a visa sponsored by a Master Licence holder, or the holder of a visa of a skilled occupation to which the activities authorised by the proposed licence correspond.
- Two Proof of Identity Documents. Note: To apply for your security licence, you need a MyServiceNSW Account – you can create one when you start your application.
- Must hold: CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations OR A current Class 1 NSW Security Licence (exclusing Class 1E)
- Advanced First Aid certificate – HLTAID014
- Must successfully complete the SLED Pre-Enrolment Assessment (Cert III Level)
- Must be available to attend all assessments in person.
- Read ‘Am I Eligible for a NSW Security Licence’ Fact Sheet 6.
- Have your USI ready prior to course attendance from the USI website.
