- There are no mandated entry requirements.
You will need to meet both the Academic and English Language Requirements to gain admission into this course. Meeting academic requirements means we review what you have already studied to see if you have the results needed for admission to your preferred course.
This course is offered under two admission rules, each with its own Course Structure (Program of Study).
Rule A: You have completed a Diploma (AQF Level 5) or Advanced Diploma (AQF Level 6) from a VET Community Services Training Package or Health Training Package in one of the following areas:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Care
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
- Nursing
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule A. Please see the Rule A Course Structure (Program of Study).
Rule B: You have completed, at minimum, an Australian Year 12 qualification or overseas equivalent.
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule B. Please see the Rule B Course Structure (Program of Study).
These requirements are in addition to the entry requirements above.
English Language Requirements:
When applying, you may be required to show how you satisfy the English Language Requirements for this course.
For admission to the Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work (Qualifying), at least one of the following criteria must be met:
- English is the applicant's first language as defined in Section 4 of the Admissions, Credit, and Enrolment Policy; or
- Where the applicant is applying for an undergraduate Social Work course, satisfactory completion of all secondary education that was taught and assessed in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, or United States of America; or
- Where the applicant is applying for a postgraduate Social Work course, satisfactory completion no more than five years prior to the date of application for admission to UNE, of at least three years of full-time tertiary study at Bachelor degree level or higher that was taught and assessed in English, in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, or United States of America; or
- A minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 including a minimum score of 7.0 in each sub-band of Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.
