Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
You have recent secondary education
If you’ve finished Year 12 (and do not have more than 2 years of higher education study), or are currently studying Year 12 and complete the SACE/IB (or interstate equivalent) you are eligible to compete for uni entry via your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
You have completed some higher education
If you have completed the equivalent of at least one semester (full-time) but no more than the equivalent of two years (full-time) of a higher education course you may be considered for entry to most courses on the basis of your higher education results or any other qualifications that meet the University's entry requirements (eg Year 12 results or VET qualifications).
If you have completed more than the equivalent of two years (full-time) of a higher education course you will normally be considered for entry on the basis of your higher education results only.
You have completed vocational education and training (VET)
If you have TAFE/VET qualifications (Cert 3 or higher) you are eligible to apply. Note, admission is competitive and most courses require higher than Certificate 3 level for admission.
You have work and life experience
If you have not had the opportunity to gain access to university by traditional means, there are these options.
Admission pathways
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) – A 2-hour multiple choice test with no areas of assumed knowledge. You can choose your STAT sitting day and time when you submit your SATAC application, or you can register to sit outside application periods. Depending on the course you apply for, you may be eligible to submit a personal competencies statement.
- Year 12 qualifications – If you completed Year 12 more than two years ago, you can still use your results to compete for a place, providing you have not completed more than the equivalent of two years (full-time) of a higher education course.
