Explore the major fields of psychology including neuroscience, human development, and emotion to gain an understanding of how both nature and nurture shape us as people. Learn about all the major fields in psychology to gain an understanding of how individual psychological differences develop. You’ll explore perception, emotion, learning, cognition, language, neuroscience and human development through the lifespan, as well as looking at the biological, social, and cultural influences on the individual person.
In doing so you’ll learn how personality and individual differences develop, and the interplay between these things and psychological health and wellbeing. You’ll also gain an understanding of psychological disorders and treatments. You’ll have the chance to study psychology along with other subjects in science when you choose a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Build special expertise in the areas of psychology that most interest you. With a focus on the latest research in these fields, you’ll integrate your learning of subject matter with the research methods used to discover new knowledge in these fields.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Higher Education
Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT) courses
Successful completion of one of the following:
- Murdoch University Preparation Course with a minimum of 50% in every subject
- MUPC (1 Trimester)
- Foundation Studies Course with a minimum of 50% in every subject.
Enabling courses (after Year 12)
Successful completion of one of the following:
- OnTrack Flex, OnTrack Sprint or K-Track at Murdoch University.
- Murdoch FlexiTrack High program in year 12 and the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
- TLC – Learning for Tomorrow, the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and achievement of a scaled score of 50+ in ATAR English or a grade of 'C' or better in General English
- an enabling or bridging course at another Australian University.
University study
Successful completion of 2 units at an Australian University or Open Universities Australia (OUA).
Recent Secondary Education
Enabling courses (in Year 12)
Successful completion of one of the following:
- Murdoch FlexiTrack High Program in Year 12
- TLC Learning for Tomorrow in Year 12
- An enabling or bridging program at another Australian university
VET course studied at school
Successful completion of a Certificate IV or higher.
English Requirements
You must meet a minimum standard in English to study at Murdoch, which for most courses can be demonstrated by providing evidence that you have completed Year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level if you are a domestic student, or through either English proficiency tests, university preparation courses, English language courses, previous tertiary study or vocational education.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.0 Overall
