Nationally Recognised Higher EducationThe Bachelor of Nursing degree trains you to become a registered nurse in 3 years. Through our accredited nursing course, you’ll gain the knowledge, clinical skills and placement experience to provide high-quality nursing care and make a difference to your patients.
You will also have the scope to provide care in multiple settings, including acute care, primary health care, mental health and health promotion. Monash Nursing will prepare you for increasingly complex health care situations in Australia and internationally.
You will gain invaluable skills in clinical decision-making, client care, communication, cultural competence and research, developed through extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Australian VCE subjects
- English
- Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL. Please refer to ‘Extra Requirements’ for the Additional English language proficiency requirements.
- Maths
- Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics
IB subjects
- English
- At least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL
- Maths
- At least 3 in any mathematics subject
TAFE/VET:
Only applicants with a graded Diploma of Nursing with at least a minimum of 75% and current registration with Ahpra as an Enrolled Nurse may be eligible for entry.
Applicants who have not completed Year 12 or above:
To be considered, applicants must also complete at least two single units at an Australian higher education institution to satisfy the minimum entry requirements with the minimum average mark required is 60% (Peninsula) and 65% (Clayton). These are minimum requirements, admissions to this course is competitive and applicants may need to meet a higher requirement to be offered a place
Applicants who have completed Year 12 or above:
To be considered on your tertiary results alone you must complete at least one semester (equivalent to 24 credit points) of full-time study load (0.5 EFTSL) a recognized university degree with a minimum average mark required is 60% (Peninsula) or 65% (Clayton). These are minimum requirements, admissions to this course is competitive and applicants may need to meet a higher requirement to be offered a place
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
- IELTS (Academic): 7.0 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 7.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0, and Speaking 7.0
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): 65 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 65, Reading 65, Speaking 65, and Writing 65
- TOEFL Internet-based test: 98 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 24, Listening 24, Speaking 23, and Writing 27
