I am a current or recent Year 12 student
You are currently studying Year 12 (school or TAFE) or have done so within the past 2 years.
If you are admitted on the basis of your ATAR, you will be eligible for admission under standard entry. Please see the Course Structure (Program of Study).
I am an applicant with higher education study
You have studied at UNE or other higher education institutions, completed or otherwise.
This course is offered under three admission rules, each with its own Course Structure (Program of Study).
Rules A and E: You have undertaken any of the following qualifications with an appropriate Grade Point Average (GPA):
- Undergraduate Certificates
- Diplomas
- Advanced Diplomas/Associate degrees
- Bachelor degrees
- Postgraduate degrees
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule A. Please see the Rule A Course Structure (Program of Study).
Rule B: You have completed an approved overseas qualification from one of the following institutions:
- Qingdao Technology University Qindao College
- Shandong Institute of Business and Technology
- Technical and Vocational Training Corporation
- WUXI South Ocean College
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule B. Please see the Rule B Course Structure (Program of Study) for a list of approved overseas qualification from these institutions.
* If you have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma please see the Vocational Education and Training (VET) study section, as you may be eligible for admission under Rule C.
I am an applicant with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study
You have undertaken VET study through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), e.g. TAFE.
This course is offered under two admission rules, each with its own Course Structure (Program of Study).
Rule A: You have completed any VET study of Certificate IV or above.
I am an applicant with work and life experience
You left high school more than two years ago or did not finish Year 12.
You can apply for this course on the basis of work and/or life experience via at least one of the following methods:
Rule D: Current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members only. You must provide a Letter of Attestation from your Education Officer confirming that you meet all of the following entry requirements:
- You have completed relevant professional development/training activities equivalent to 2400 hours
- AND you have completed the ADF Warrant Officer course (or above)
- AND you have completed at least four years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional experience in the ADF.
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule D. Please see the Rule D Course Structure (Program of Study).
Professional Experience
If you have completed at least one year of paid professional experience, we can assess you for admission on this basis. Simply provide a resume and a Statement of Service from your employer/s in your application.
Mature Age Special Entry

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
The STAT is a test that assesses a range of competencies considered important for successful tertiary study. UNE accepts the multiple-choice component provided you have completed it within the three years prior to course commencement.
English Language Requirements
All applicants must meet a minimum of one of the following criteria:
- English is the applicant's first language; or
- Satisfactory completion, within five years of the date of application for admission to UNE, of at least one year of full-time or equivalent full-time study at senior secondary, post-secondary or tertiary level in a country in which English is the primary official language or co-official language and in which English was the sole medium of instruction and assessment for the particular period of study claimed; or
- A pass grade or better in an English language subject at Australian Year 12 level or overseas equivalent; or
- An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5*; or
- Equivalent Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 213 in the computer-based test or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component*; or
- A Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50*; or
- Satisfactory completion of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program:
- at the University of New England English Language Centre; or
- an equivalent EAP program at an Australian university National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS)-accredited English Language Centre (subject to certification from the university concerned that satisfactory completion of that university's EAP program would entitle the applicant to be accepted into a comparable award-bearing program at that university); or
- at a non-university NEAS-accredited English Language Provider that has a formal agreement with UNE under which it provides an equivalent EAP Program; or
- a NEAS-accredited TAFE NSW EAP Program.
- Satisfactory completion on a prior or concurrent basis of an English communication skills program appropriate for specific programs approved by the Executive Principal Education Futures, on the joint support of the relevant Associate Dean Teaching and Learning and Director International, or equivalent.
*When an IELTS, TOEFL or PTE score is used to demonstrate English proficiency, that score must have been attained within two years of the date of application for admission.
