Australia’s English language program

Australia boasts a highly regarded English language program that is specifically designed to help overseas students achieve their English learning goals.

This program is known as ELICOS, which stands for English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students.

ELICOS courses must meet strict standards. They also cater to specific learning outcomes. In fact there are six different branches of ELICOS courses available. Some are designed to help overseas students master general conversational and written English, while others prepare students for further academic study in Australia, and some courses are more specifically focused on English for designated professions. As a result, course lengths and costs vary depending on the learning goal, the institution, previous English speaking experience and more.

Courses can be as short as four or five weeks, and cost as little as AU$1080 while more intensive programs can last up to 118 weeks in total and come with a price tag of AU$48,000.
