Research Engineer

A Research Engineer undertakes research on new products or systems in the engineering industry. You might develop new work processes for your own organisation or be employed as an external contractor. Research Engineers might design and develop new systems or products and test their effectiveness. You might be employed to come up with brand new ideas or to solve problems with existing processes.

Research Engineers should have excellent observational abilities and be able to solve problems in a range of settings. You’ll need to have excellent attention to detail and have strong analytical skills. Research Engineers usually work as part of a team, so communication skills are important.
