All Queensland Electrical Training Courses
AS/NZS 3760 provides guidelines on the electrical knowledge and other principles that a competent person (test and tagger) requires. It states that the test and tagger has a basic understanding of electrical principles, both AC and DC. I wonder whether a basic understanding of AC principles actually exist as the theory of AC is quite complex.
Nevertheless, QET covers AC principles so that the students have an understanding of AC theory so that they can apply this to test and tag. You will understand not only volts, amps, ohms, and watts, but also VARs and VA. Also, the measurements taken during testing are in engineering units, and so there is also a need to for the test and tagger to apply this in their work. You will be able to work with mega, kilo, milli and micro. Finally, you will also understand and apply in practice, Circuit Protection, Electrical Safety, and Inspection and testing to ASNZS 3760.
Certain electrical equipment can be quite tricky to test and tag, and therefore QET prefers to complete the training onsite, testing the electrical equipment that you will be expected to test. QET does hold an electrical contracting licence and so are licensed to perform electrical work on your business work site.
Learn moreWhen your business includes the performance of electrical installation work (the installation of wiring systems), the business must hold an unrestricted electrical contracting licence (gold). Two of the requirements for holding a gold electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.
When your business includes the performance of electrical maintenance or repair work, the business must hold either a trade contracting licence or a restricted electrical contracting licence (silver). Two of the requirements for holding a silver electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.
Learn moreThis short course provides the skills and knowledge required to safely disconnect and reconnect electrical equipment connected to LV installation wiring. It covers preparation, reconnection, inspection, testing, fault identification, and reporting. This is suitable for non-electrical tradespeople conducting like-for-like replacements, such as plumbers connecting power to hot water systems. It excludes work on switchboards, general electrical accessories, or fixed wiring alterations.
Learn morePeople with an electrical mechanic licence can complete all competencies and be eligible for the Grid Connect Design and Install Solar Licence.
This training is being delivered by Chris Williamson. Chris has over thirty years experience in teaching trade and advanced trade in the electrical industry. He has accreditation for both Grid-Connected and Off-Grid Solar Systems and has installed small and large systems (up to 100kW). Chris will guide you through these competencies, provide helpful hints, suggest ways in which to do things, and make sure you are aware of the regulations, standards, and your responsibilities.
QET has produced a comprehensive Learning Guide to assist you through the Australian New Zealand Standards. The learning guide takes you step by step through the design, install and fault finding of PV systems.
The Practical component includes fitting of Solar Panels, fitting of an inverter, and then cabling and commissioning the inverter.
Learn morePeople with the Grid Connect Design and Install Solar Licence can complete all competencies and be eligible for the Grid Connect Design and Install Battery Endorsement.
