About Australian Forensic Services

This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates.

The roles may be undertaken by those working in registered training organisations (RTOs), enterprises, community organisations, schools and other VET provision contexts.

This qualification is designed for officers working in operational roles undertaking government investigation related functions, with a particular focus on meeting the ethical and legislative requirements of the public service. The qualification covers the broad range of skills required to operate without supervision in a government investigations environment.

Participants learn the skills and knowledge required to plan, initiate, conduct and finalise an investigation.

The regulatory compliance specialisation covers the skills required by those responsible for ensuring statutory compliance with the requirements of legislation, regulations and organisational policy.

This program is a combination of the qualifications PSP40316 Certificate IV in Government Security & CPP41519 Certificate IV in Security Risk Analysis.

It is suitable for individuals who provide specialisation in crowded places, and a pathway to further learning and work in security risk management. It also allows for the attainment of occupational specific competencies for those working in operational roles undertaking government security related functions, with a particular focus on meeting the ethical and legislative requirements of the public service.

This program is a combination of the qualifications PSP50316 Diploma of Government Security and CPP50619 Diploma of Security Risk Management.

It is suitable for individuals who need to apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a broad range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled duties in a government security environment. The program is also suitable for those who provide specialist advice on strategies to mitigate risk to people, property and assets including crowded places, as defined by Australia’s Strategy for Protecting Crowded Places from Terrorism (2017). Security risk consultants operating at this level work with a high level of autonomy to assess the current threat environment, assess risk management options, and prepare and implement security risk management plans and communication systems to respond to active threats.

This qualification allows for the attainment of occupational specific competencies for those working in operational roles undertaking government security related functions, with a particular focus on meeting the ethical and legislative requirements of the public service. It is suitable for individuals who need to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in specific contexts within the security environment.

The personnel vetting specialisation covers the skills required for working without supervision within a personal security area.

This qualification allows for the attainment of occupational specific competencies for those working in operational roles undertaking government security related functions, with a particular focus on meeting the ethical and legislative requirements of the public service. It is suitable for individuals who need to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in specific contexts within the security environment.

The fraud control specialisation covers the skills required by those responsible for preventing and detecting fraud.

This program is a combination of the qualifications PSP50316 Diploma of Government Security and CPP50619 Diploma of Security Risk Management.
