Animals on Course (AoC) was founded with the goal of helping to promote humane training and education in the Animal Care industry. We believe that animals deserve the best standards of care and handling possible and hope to instill this in our students.
At AoC we aim to engender a student community environment that promotes positive and harmonious interaction between staff and students. Through the employment of dedicated, caring and committed staff we aim to establish and maintain the positive working environment students require to succeed. We aim to promote a sense of self-discipline and responsibility in the learning environment and we respect the right of all learners to a sound educational experience within a learning environment.
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required to work in a broad range of roles in animal care facilities and services, includingboarding/day care, breeding, shelters/holding centres, pet grooming, pet sitting and other animal businesses.
Individuals in these rolesperform a range of animal care tasks under broad direction which involve discretion and judgement in handling animals, selecting and operating tools and equipment, coordinating resources and problem solving. They are required to take responsibility for their own work including, carrying out assigned tasks, compliance with animal welfare, organising processes, solving problems and working to schedules.

The work activities are routine, performed under supervision and within clearly defined guidelines.

Learn moreThis qualification describes the skills and knowledge required for an animal trainer and/or animal training practitioner working with a specific species or across a range of species and workplaces where they are required to work closely with animal carers or owners (clients). The qualification provides options for individuals wanting to work in animal-assisted services, animal rehoming/adoption, rehabilitation roles, exhibited animal facilities or who specialise in conditioning or training different species.
The qualification is for individuals with experience in working with and caring for animals, to develop the skills required to interpret animal behaviour, apply animal learning theory, and to evaluate best practice conditioning and training methodologies and techniques to meet the welfare needs of animals, and to provide ethical services for carers/clients.
