Service Type A Gas Appliances
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to diagnose and repair faults on domestic and commercial Type A gas appliances.
Work associated with this unit is undertaken within the scope of AS/NZS 5601:2013 Part 1 Gas installations and local licensing requirements (gas, electrical and plumbing).

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Learners must hold VBA gas fitting registration and/or license.
To be eligible to register with the VBA in the Type A Appliance Servicing class, you must:
- hold registration in the Gasfitting work class
- have completed CPCPGS4022A or CPCPGS4022 Service Type A appliances, or demonstrate knowledge and competence equivalent to that unit of competency
- successfully complete the VBA’s examination of registration competencies for Type A Appliance Servicing work.
Pre-Requisites:
There are two pre-requisite units that must be completed to be awarded this unit. The units you must hold are:
- CPCPCM2043 Carry out WHS requirements
- CPCPGS3053 Disconnect and reconnect Type A gas appliances
Master Plumbers has a Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) process that will assist you in providing evidence that you have acquired the necessary skills to satisfy entry into the course.
