Provide First Aid
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Learn skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
The National Standard for Commercial Vessels Part D, Crew Competencies requires that you hold a certificate that meets the requirements of the unit of competency Apply First Aid, or another certificate that is considered to be equivalent.

About Seafood and Maritime Industries Training
Seafood & Maritime Industries Training Ltd. (SMIT) is a not-for-profit, industry based provider established in 1995.
SMIT provides a range of training courses as well as being involved in national projects for the development of the maritime certificate curriculum.
The qualifications gained through SMIT are credit transferable and articulated all around Australia. SMIT is endorsed to facilitate the new national MAR (Maritime – Release 10) Industry Training Package.
English language, literacy and numeracy support is offered to learners who do not speak English as a first language – and to other groups who require assistance to become proficient in the use of industry specific language.
Professional development programs for trainers, supervisors, executives and managers are available and every effort is made to provide for innovative and flexible methods of training. Courses are conducted as face-to-face classes at SMIT training rooms. However, the organisation can customise courses for industry, community and individual requirements and deliver at your work place or at SMIT facilities.
