Master of Teaching (Secondary)
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationThe Master of Teaching (Secondary) prepares you to teach ages 12 to 18 years.
You will learn through our clinical model of education which is unique in Australia. Connecting with our latest research you will become skilled in assessing individual student abilities and being able to adapt your teaching to support the needs of each student in your classroom as they grow and develop over time.
In your final year, you will undertake a professional work integrated learning experience deeply exploring an area of learning of your choice. This includes a placement relevant to your chosen topic which can be in non-education settings such as hospitals, museums, art galleries and more. This experience provides an opportunity for reflection and growth that aligns with the continuous professional learning approach in teaching practice.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Entry requirements
- An undergraduate degree from an approved institution.
- Previous study that satisfies the requirements for two learning areas.
All applicants must also:

Progression requirement
The Commonwealth Government of Australia now requires all students undertaking initial teacher education courses in Australia to pass a literacy and numeracy test.
Selection
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection. In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
- prior academic performance; and
- the results of the TCAT.
English language requirements
- IELTS (academic English Only): 7.5 overall
- TOEFL Internet-based test*: 100 + Writing 27; Speaking 26; Reading 24; Listening 28
- Pearson Test of English Academic: 76+ no communicative skill below 76
- Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 190+, no communicative skill below 190
