Nationally Recognised Higher EducationOur Master of Teaching (Secondary) course offers learning options to suit individual circumstances and ensures graduates are well-prepared for teaching.Students can complete the course in an accelerated mode over 1.5 years, full-time over 2 years, or part-time over three years. The course is online and attracts applicants from across Victoria.
Students can choose to attend weekly remote scheduled classes or to learn in more flexible ways with independent access to quality online learning resources. Lecturers provide individualised attention and students apply their learning in regular teaching experiences in local schools. Students are expected to attend two face-to-face intensives in the first year of the course.
With government scholarships that cover university fees and paid school placement opportunities available, now is the time to become a teacher!
Those applying for the Master of Teaching (Secondary), and wishing to study over 1.5 or 2 years, may also be eligible for our funded employment-based program. Students receive a $15,000 stipend to assist with study in the first year and paid on-the-job training in the final 6 months. Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree and must be permanent Australian residents. Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Prerequisite
Bachelor Degree: An approved 3 year degree or equivalent.
This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.
Applicants with a Vocational Education and Training study are not eligible to apply for this course.
Applicants with work and life experience are not eligible to apply for this course.

Essential requirements for selection and application
CASPer
Compulsory: All applicants are required to complete Altus Suite as part of their application. Altus Suite is a requirement for many of the initial teacher training courses in Victoria. It is a non-cognitive online test designed to assess an applicant's personal and professional attributes. Altus Suite consists of two-parts, however only the Casper component is compulsory for Federation University applications.
- Altus Suite: Part One (Compulsory) - Casper: 60-90 minute online, open-response situational judgment test (SJT)
- Altus Suite: Part Two (Recommended) - Snapshot: 10-minute one-way video interview with standardised questions
Literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE)
Compulsory: Prior to graduation, students will be required to demonstrate they have achieved approved benchmarks in literacy and numeracy as demonstrated through the Literacy and Numeracy Test in Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE).
Working with children check
Compulsory: Applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children (WWC) Check prior to undertaking professional placements as part of this course.
Police record check
Compulsory: Applicants will be required to hold a valid National Police Record Check for professional placements as part of this course.
English language requirement
IELTS score: Speaking 8.0, Listening 8.0, Reading 7.0, and Writing 7.0 or successful completion of two years full-time equivalent study at recognized Australian university within the past two years. Additional requirements may apply.Course fees
