Master of Teaching (Primary)
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationThe Master of Teaching (Primary) is a postgraduate coursework degree that will provide a good understanding of the policy frameworks that shape teaching in Australia and internationally, and issues in teaching, learning and curriculum management.
You will complete core units in education and curriculum in addition to professional units of study. You will also complete practicum placements and a final capstone project comprising an internship in a primary education setting.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Admission criteria
Admission to candidature requires:
- a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; and
- completion of the curriculum area specialisation requirements specified by the Faculty; and
- completion of any additional qualifying courses prescribed by the Faculty.
Prerequisites
Applicants need to be able to demonstrate a record of studies in their undergraduate study that satisfies the prerequisite requirements of the Key Learning Areas.
The minimum requirement is at least one year of full-time equivalent study (normally 8 units of study) that is relevant to one or more Key Learning Areas of the primary school curriculum.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, you may be able to prove English proficiency with an approved English skills test taken within 2 years of commencing the course.
- IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.5 overall including a minimum result of 7.0 in Reading and Writing and 8.0 in Listening and Speaking
- TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 105 overall including a minimum result of 23 in Reading and 25 in Writing and 27 in Listening and Speaking
- Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 76 overall including a minimum result of 68 in Reading and Writing and 79 in Listening and Speaking
