Speech pathologists work with people of all ages who are experiencing communication and/or swallowing disorders as a result of illness, injury or disability. Speech pathologists may work in a range of education and health sectors.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology at University of Melbourne offers the Master of Speech Pathology degree, which is a two-year full-time course. Completion of this degree qualifies you to work as a speech pathologist.

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

1. In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Science, Biomedicine, Linguistics, Phonetics, Education, Psychology), or equivalent

2. In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:

  • Prior academic performance

3. The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Academic Board rules on the use of selection instruments.

4. Please note that during selection a 50-80 grading scale is used to calculate an applicant’s weighted average mark (WAM). Any results that are on a different grading scale will be converted to the equivalent 50-80 score.
