The Master of Public Health provides students with the ability to assess all determinants of health, including broader social and environmental factors in addition to physical risk factors. It provides you with in-depth knowledge on global and public health issues and determinants from broader social and environmental factors to physical risk. You will receive practical skills in community development and health promotion programs, and also complete a culminating research and practice experience in the evaluation of a contemporary public health issue. This degree also offers a variety of study areas including communicable diseases, policy analysis and economic evaluation, allowing you to focus on your topics interests.

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Admission

Master of Public Health (160 credit points)

Applicants must have either

  • An undergraduate, master or doctoral degree in any discipline; Or
  • A Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in any discipline and three years full-time equivalent work experience in a relevant health-related discipline.

Master of Public Health (120 credit points)

Applicants must have

  • An undergraduate degree in a health-related discipline

Master of Public Health (80 credit points)

Applicants must have

  • An undergraduate honours, master or doctoral degree in a relevant health-related discipline.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

English language entry requirements

Your English language proficiency test must be no more than two years old at the time of your commencement at Western Sydney University.

  • IELTS (Academic version): 6.5 overall score with minimum 6.0 in each subtest
  • TOEFL Internet-Based score: Total score 82; Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 58 overall with no communication skills less than 50
