Master of Public Health (Indigenous Health)

Through this specialisation, students will be able to understand the needs of, and how to engage with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from a public health perspective. This includes developing skills and knowledge of the social determinants of health, Indigenous research and evaluation methodologies through a cultural determinants of health lens.

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Entry requirements

Admission to the Master of Public Health requires:

  • an undergraduate degree with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65, plus one of the following: a one-year Honours degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. At least one qualification must be in a field relevant to public health; OR
  • an undergraduate degree (minimum WAM of 65) plus significant professional or volunteer experience in a field relevant to public health (equivalent of 2 years full time).

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may be offered the Graduate Certificate in Public Health as a pathway into the Master of Public Health.

Entry to the Public Health Research specialisation requires a WAM of 75 or greater in your prior studies.

Students wishing to take PGPH940 Public Health Practice will require a WAM of 65 across all completed subjects.

IELTS Academic: Overall score 6.5
