Designed to meet the requirements of the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for a generalist fifth year in psychology, after you graduate from La Trobe's accredited Master of Professional Psychology you'll be eligible to undertake a one-year internship. After you successfully complete this supervised internship, you'll be eligible to register for full registration as a general psychologist.
Gain essential tools that you'll use every day, such as counselling, psychological assessment, assessment, formulation, and creating and implementing treatment plans. You'll learn the latest best practice from experienced academic staff, as all your teachers have a wealth of recent clinical experience and have worked in a variety of settings such as public health, perinatal mental health, private practice, neuropsychological services and others.

Prerequisites
An APAC-accredited four-year Bachelor degree in psychology at an Honours grade of at least a WAM of 70 or equivalent.
Selection criteria
- All applicants must complete and submit a Personal Statement
- All applicants must complete and submit the Professional Experience Form
- Applicants may be required to attend an interview. Details will be provided by telephone or mail to applicants required to attend.Selection interview for short-listed applicants (in person or via videoconference) to assess potential suitability as a practising psychologist. Interviews may involve case studies, decision-making and analyses of hypothetical scenarios.
- Submit three referee reports with your application. At least one of these should be from an academic referee, and at least one from a professional referee (i.e., you can submit two academic referee reports and one professional referee report, or one academic referee report and two professional referee reports).
