Master of Financial Mathematics
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationModern finance relies heavily on mathematical modelling to manage investment portfolios, financial planning, pricing of financial products and analysing business risk. The Master of Financial Mathematics was introduced in 2007 to provide the financial sector (banks, insurance companies, investment companies) with a stream of highly trained specialists in quantitative finance.
Gain high-level training in principles of modern finance and its mathematical foundations, stochastic analysis, risk assessment and relevant computational techniques. This program is suitable for students with an aptitude for mathematics and a keen interest in finance, who are looking for a pathway into the financial industry.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Bachelor of Mathematics or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics and statistics
- Sufficient mathematical and/or statistical background, as indicated by a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 or above in level III mathematics and/or statistics university courses.
- In addition, you must have permission of the Head of School or Nominee to be admitted into the program.
- Bachelor of Mathematics or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics and statistics
- Sufficient mathematical and/or statistical background, as indicated by a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 or above in level III mathematics and/or statistics university courses.

You may need to submit results from an acceptable English language test taken in the last two years prior to starting at UNSW:
- IELTS: 7.0 overall (min 6.0 in each subtest)
- TOEFL iBT: 94 overall (min. 25 in writing, 23 in reading, listening and speaking)
- PTE: 65 overall (min. 54 in each subtest)
- C1 Advanced Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 169 in each subtest)
- C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 180 in each subtest)
