Nationally Recognised Higher EducationIf you have a background in teaching or educational administration, or have a professional interest in education, this course has been designed for you.
Assessment consists of a thesis of up to 40,000 words which constitutes 100% of the examination for the degree and is examined externally. Applicants without prior relevant research training will be required to take 60 credit points of research training coursework subjects in the first semester (FTE) of the degree.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
In order to apply for Masters by research candidature, you will normally require either:
- the satisfactory completion of an Australian Bachelor's degree with at least a Weighted Average Mark of 70 in the relevant discipline
- a qualification of La Trobe University or a recognised tertiary institution which is deemed by the Board of Graduate Research to be equivalent to the qualification specified in (a) above
- the demonstrated possession of research skills or publications approved by the Board of Graduate Research as an acceptable basis for admission to candidature. Some additional preliminary studies may need to be undertaken.
