You'll study core subjects on educational leadership, psychology and digital technologies, then dig deeper through a specialisation in inclusion and diversity, leadership and management, or language and literacy. When you choose a specialisation, you'll graduate with it on your academic transcript so future employers can recognize your expertise.
Leadership and ManagementCore subjects are required subjects in your course. You need to complete these subjects to attain your degree.
- ACADEMIC INTEGRITY MODULE
The academic integrity module introduces academic integrity standards to inform and support students in avoiding plagiarism and academic misconduct. Students complete four parts that encompass academic misconduct and academic integrity decisions, including cheating, plagiarism, and collusion. - HOW HUMANS LEARN
In this subject, you will explore the educational psychology underpinning human learning, including topics such as information processing theory, schema theory, memory consolidation, and executive control. You will take a neurodevelopmental perspective, focusing on the school years. - LEADERSHIP AND TEAM BUILDING
In this subject participants consider the nature and the importance of leadership and team building in educational or similar organizations. Students are expected to use relevant leadership frameworks and recent research to evaluate current practices in educational (or related) organizations. - LEARNING AND THE NATURE OF COMMUNICATION
The effective use of communicative resources is central to partnerships, learning and teaching, working and socializing. Digital tools are an increasing part of those different relationships as communicative resources transform in response to recognition of the power of informal varieties, hybrid language, images, emoticons and emoji and tools such as social media. - USING MULTIMEDIA FOR LEARNING
In this subject students consider the educational possibilities of using multimedia for learning through the exploration of a range of multimedia materials. The aim in this subject is to build participants' confidence in using multimedia materials as well as their abilities to make principled decisions and evaluations of the use of multimedia within their various teaching and learning contexts. - BIG IDEAS IN CURRICULUM, POLICIES AND PEDAGOGIES
How are foundational ideas about curriculum, education policies and pedagogies changing in ways that support desirable social change and sustainable futures? You will investigate debates and relationships between curriculum and: philosophy, pedagogies, learning and policies. - INCLUSION EQUITY AND ACCESS
In this subject, you are provided with an overview of inclusive education, including a critical analysis of issues related to equity, access, participation, and life transitions. Relevant policy and legislation that inform the participation and rights of students with a diverse range of abilities will be explored.

Prerequisites
Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).
Selection criteria
Applicants with a four-year teaching qualification, an Honours degree, or a relevant graduate diploma from a recognised university or institution are eligible for advanced standing entry to a 120 credit point program.
