Our Master of Data Science is tailored for professionals with a strong mathematical or quantitative background who are passionate about drawing meaningful knowledge from data to drive business decision-making or research output.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:
- a three year Australian bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline that demonstrates a background in computer programming and statistics with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or
- the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Data Science with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or a qualification deemed to be equivalent; or
- completed 24 credit points of the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Data Science or Graduate Certificate in Data Science with a minimum credit average (65 percent). The 24 credit points must include 12 credit points of Data Science Core units and 12 credit points of Data Science specialist elective units.
If you have the equivalent of an Australian AQF Level 8 degree or above in a cognate discipline, you may be eligible for a Reduced Volume of Learning (RVL) of up to 24 credit points or 0.5 years/1 semester.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, you may be able to prove English proficiency with an approved English skills test taken within 2 years of commencing the course.
- IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
- TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
- Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
