Licence to Drive a Heavy Combination Vehicle

A prime mover that is attached to a single semi-trailer that has a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of more than nine tonnes, plus any unladen converter dolly. A rigid motor vehicle attached to a trailer with a GVM of more than nine tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly.

This course provides theory and practical training to learn skills and techniques to safely drive a heavy combination vehicle, including vehicle handling skills, load restraint and on-road training in everyday driving conditions.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must have held an Australian medium rigid or heavy rigid licence for at least 12 months
  • Meet the medical requirements under the Assessing Fitness to Drive (AFTD) Guidelines
