Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationThis course is delivered by RTO Inspiritive Pty Ltd RTO Code 21178 and registered training partner Mediation Institute. The option to complete individual units, the full Graduate Diploma or Core Units Only is available. Pre-requisite qualifications or experience apply and Mediation Institute can assist you in determining the most suitable pathway for you. The CHC81115 qualification or core units combined with other criteria allow application to the Australian Attorney Generals Department to register as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners.
Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners are authorised under the Family Law Act 1975 to provide parenting, financial and property settlement mediation. Attending FDR is required prior to applying to family court for parenting matters unless an exemption applies.
The course provides full training in all aspects of the role making use of online learning, video mediation and requires a 50 hour work placement under the supervision of a FDR practitioner.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
This course has pre-requisite qualifications, experience or accreditations required to be eligible for enrolment. To enrol you must have:
- an undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Conflict Management, Dispute Resolution, Family Law Mediation or equivalent or
- hold accreditation under the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS) or
- hold the Mediation skill set from the Community Services Training Package (CHC) or
- provide documented evidence of previous (recent) experience in a dispute resolution environment in a job role involving self-directed application of knowledge with substantial depth in some areas, exercise of independent judgement and decision-making, and a range of technical and other skills. A letter from a current or recent employer would be sufficient.
