The Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting is an introductory course that provides a general understanding of accounting and related areas in business, including finance, statistics and economics.

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting provides a pathway to the Master of Professional Accounting or Master of Professional Accounting Advanced, with credit of four subjects towards the Master's degree. Progression to other Masters programs, including the MBA, may also be possible with some credit.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Admission Options:

A range of admission options are available for students of all ages and academic backgrounds. The procedures governing admission are defined in UOW's Admissions Procedures, and the UOW College Admissions Policy.

Entry Requirements:

1. A recognised bachelor's or master's degree or

2. A tertiary qualification with a duration of at least 3 years’ full-time equivalent managerial/professional work experience.

Applicants with 3 years’ full-time equivalent managerial/professional work experience in accounting will also be considered.

Credit for Prior Learning:

Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting, those who enrol in the Master in Professional Accounting will be eligible for credit for the 4 subjects completed within the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting. Progression to other Masters programs may also be possible with some credit including 12 credit points towards the MBA.
