Gas Test Atmospheres

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

This course is designed for those who are required to conduct gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific space area or workspace. This course applies to situations where an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere within the workplace.

Each participant must have the ability to interpret readings and take appropriate action based on the readings in order to be fully competent. This course is recommended for those working within environments such as hot works, confined space, enclosed and partially enclosed spaces, storage tanks, pits, silos, shafts, ducts, transport vehicles and ships. It also applies to those who may be required to conduct tests as part of issuing a work permit, monitoring as part of working under a work permit and open areas, lowering a gas tester into a space, or holding a gas tester by hand.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

A government issued photo identification and valid USI is required for course recognition.

All students must undertake a language, literacy, and numeracy test before commencement of this course to ascertain if support is required to assist students to successfully meet their goals.
